Geiger works with BIMsystems on novel information management for BIM system

The Geiger Group of Companies and the software company BIMsystems from Stuttgart are entering into a strategic partnership to professionalize data management for BIM planning and the interface to construction stakeholders. Based on real use cases, the BIMsystem for data management across the entire value chain will be expanded to include specific requirements of the construction and real estate industry.

Together into the digital transformation: Geiger and BIMsystems work on BIM system for information management

BIMsystems specializes in the model-based planning method Building Information Modeling (short: BIM). With its unique database-based BIM system for data & information management, information requirements are defined at an early stage and managed in a central and web-based location. In combination with further functions, a system for data management is thus available for planners, operators and general contractors. The result: For the first time, data management can be organized transparently, centrally and efficiently with direct networking to the CAD systems.

The Geiger company group recognizes the potential of this BIM system and supports BIMsystems with practical knowledge. Since its founding in 1923, the family-run Geiger Unternehmensgruppe, headquartered in Oberstdorf in the Allgäu region of Germany, has developed into a multifaceted group of companies with more than a dozen business segments. In order to be able to exploit the resulting synergy potential in the best possible way and thus achieve long-term market success, the individual units often work together on a cross-divisional basis. In this way, the entire value chain of the construction and real estate sector can be covered. An interface between the company's own systems and external CAD systems or other tools gives the Geiger Group the opportunity to network value chains.

A partnership rich in opportunities: The practical experience of the Geiger Group and the technological know-how of BIMsystems optimize BIM information management

BIMsystems understands BIM as geometric and alphanumeric information in a central data model. This is created right from the start of planning and can be initiated by the general contractor himself. Ideally, he relies on defined use case-related information requirements at an early stage in order to capture the data as correctly as possible. The data model is continuously enriched with data by those involved in the process. The data model "lives". The advantage is that it is aligned with the information requirements of the project participants. Award processes or project constellations are only two of the reasons why this "frontloading" is challenging in reality.

During the project phase, general contractors are increasingly faced with the challenge of maintaining an overview of the data and ensuring that it is up-to-date and valid. The increasing flood of data, its updating, time-consuming remodeling and the associated time-consuming processing not only entail high costs, but also a high error rate. BIMsystem's database-based BIM system offers solutions at all levels.

In the multi-layered planning process, information requirements are already managed on a project-specific basis at the beginning in a central storage location, the cloud-based database. In combination with other functions, the entire BIM content and its characteristics and attributes are linked, maintained and structured. The digital twin of the construction project thus makes it from theory into practice.

The partnership takes the BIM system a step forward

The development partnership between BIMsystems GmbH and the Geiger Group makes it possible to ensure the database-based BIM technology with the help of many years of experience as a general contractor in all service phases of a construction project. "On practical use cases, we work together to develop all the required features that are necessary for the BIM system and thereby enable a cost-safe construction," says Gregor Müller (CEO BIMsystems). The clear advantage of the partnership: providers and end users exchange ideas based on practical experience and work together to achieve a satisfactory result - at all levels!
